TITLE  Can Beyond-the-Standard Cosmology Resolve the Hubble Tension?
ABSTRACT

Recently, some local measurements of the Hubble constant (H0) suggest that the universe is expanding faster today than what is expected based on the standard cosmological model and measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB). This Hubble tension could lead to ground-breaking discoveries in cosmology, if it arises from non-standard physics. However, when all different types of observation probing the cosmic expansion are viewed in a two-parameter space (matter fraction and H0), most of them are consistent with each other in the standard framework, except for the local measurements. It is not easy for non-standard physics to establish a new consistency among those observations including the local measurements. I will then pay a special attention to resolutions that involve early-universe nonstandard physics. We developed an early-universe-physics independent method to unify the analysis of cosmic standards (candles and rulers) including the CMB angular size of the sound horizon. This method helps other late-time (but non-local) observations to obtain more precise constraints of H0, which are consistent with the CMB result and further disfavor early-physics resolutions.
